Oui, oui! The 2023-2024 school year begins with the traditional, momentous occasion of Senior Breakfast. Hosted by the Grad Night Chairs, the breakfast symbolized the beginning of the several events that will be hosted this year for the Seniors, ultimately building up to Grad Night itself. Short and sweet, the breakfast was an amazing way for seniors to connect with their friends and peers after a summer that passed by in a blink of an eye.
This year’s Senior Breakfast was a delightful homage to the heartwarming movie “Ratatouille,” showcasing the beauty of French cuisine and culture. The theme, elegantly set up by the Grad Night Chairs of the Parent-Teacher-Student Association (PTSA), took students into the culinary world of France, alluding to the main event at the end of the year, Grad Night. Located in the Quad, the spirit of Paris encapsulated the event as seniors gathered for the French-themed breakfast to mark the commencement of their final year. As the morning progressed, the atmosphere with laughter of friends, sounds of joy, and an unprecedented realization that now they are finally seniors.
Stepping onto the steps of the Quad, one of the Grad Night Chairs, Mrs. Marcie Wendling, talked to the enthusiastic, though mostly hungry, seniors, officially commencing the Senior Breakfast. In the opening remarks, she commended the seniors for their spirit and dedication, urging them to savor each moment of their final year and to create lasting memories. Amidst the buzz before the breakfast began, the Senior Class President, Celine Chih, took to the steps to address the gathering. Chih unveiled the exciting details about the senior entrance for the school assembly that would take place after 4th period that day. While seated, the Senior cabinet came around providing seniors the choice of a visor or sunglasses to wear to the school assembly. As students excitedly picked out their accessories, the lines for breakfast opened to everyone’s relief and hunger. Catered from Paris Baguette, breakfast entailed savory pastries, sweet snacks, and fresh orange juice. After the seniors took their seats once receiving their food, the rest of the morning truly was a blur, as seniors captivated their first morning as 12th graders with joy, laughter, and excitement.
“I really enjoyed the breakfast, and the food was really good. I liked the visors and I really wanted to win the raffle, but I’m glad that my friend Alice gave me the prize,” Madeline Aguilar, 12, said.
The Senior Breakfast not only provided a wonderful start to the school year but also reaffirmed the strong bond that the seniors share as they embark on their final lap together. As the event drew to a close, the Quad buzzed with laughter, camaraderie, and a sense of excitement for the adventure that Grad Night and the rest of the year promised for the graduating class of 2024. And to all the seniors as they embark on this adventure we say… bon voyage!
