Club Rush is an exciting event our school hosts where every club prepares a booth to both sell food and promote themselves during lunch. Not only does this give students the opportunity to grab a good bite to eat, but it also allows them the opportunity to discover clubs they may not have known our school has to offer. When the bell rings, signifying that lunch has begun, students rush towards the quad, which is already filled with various student-led food stands and eager lines form quickly. There is always a wide range of food being sold at Club Rush such as boba, ramen, burgers, and fried chicken. Many students enjoy this time of year as they gain access to off campus food without actually having to get it themselves. For freshmen this would be their first time experiencing our thrilling yet chaotic Club Rush. “My first experience of Club Rush was so much fun!! I liked how I didn’t need to bring my lunch and could just buy food directly from the booths lol…the food was so good,” Riley Trinh, 9, said.
For a majority of these clubs, upperclassmen were the ones in charge of running these booths. Additionally, through this event, some upperclassmen utilized it as a chance to meet and connect with their underclassmen, ensuring that they feel welcome to join clubs and integrated into the community. “It was so much fun seeing my peers so excited and enthusiastic about our club and the boba that came with it!,” Katie Hoang, 11, said.
However, although Club Rush is an incredibly vibrant time for the school to get together, the behind the scenes preparation is a little more hectic for the clubs. As students scurry about, hoping to snag one of the limited food items they planned on purchasing, some clubs faced unexpected challenges. These difficulties varied, from running out of food to sell, to having too much inventory, and even dealing with the setbacks of selling items that could melt, such as ice cream. “It was super fun! But maybe next time we buy a smidge bit less ice cream…heh,” Liz Razo, 11, said.
Overall, Club Rush is a lively time for our school community to come together. While students enjoy delicious food, it also highlights the hard work of the students involved. Despite the challenges some clubs may have faced in preparation of their stands, the enthusiasm and school spirit Club Rush invokes never fails to come out.
