If there’s one thing that most students have in common with each other, it’s the desire to soak that one annoying senior, take him/her down a peg, and drench him/her head to toe with water. Soak a Senior, a fundraiser raised by ASB, was the perfect opportunity to do so.
The event offered varying amounts of water at different prices. $5 was enough to buy a cup of water to pour on someone’s head while $40 dollars gave someone access to a hose for 10 seconds. There was also a $10 additional fee that allowed people to use ice in their soaking. While some levels guaranteed a little bit more water ending up on peoples’ heads, each level ensured a certain level of fun. “Soak a Senior was more eventful than I expected and more people took part than I thought. There was a constant stream of business at the table, and everyone seemed happy both soaking others and getting soaked,” Senior Class President Carlo Repetto, 12, said.
Of course, the event itself would not have been possible without the 12 brave volunteers that chose to put the well-being of the school above their own. “To be honest, I didn’t realize how much water would be poured on me. I expected to be able to have at least some parts of me still dry. But I got fully drenched and my shoes took two days to dry. Also, each little thing of water felt so much more than it looked like,” Repetto, one of the victims as well, said. A few other lucky individuals got repeatedly soaked by the same people. “My sister got me a bunch with the hose and buckets. It was really nice and a great bonding moment, but it also made me a lot wetter compared to the others,” Caleb Newton, 12, said.
