Move Up Day is a day hosted by our high school that gives eighth graders from Huntington Middle School the opportunity to visit and get a feel for what their high school experience will be like. When the eighth graders came in, they were welcomed by a “tunnel” of ASB members and Link Crew members, who planned out the numerous activities and also gave them tours of the school. During these tours, the kids followed ASB and Link Crew members around the school where they were introduced to the environment they will hopefully be joining the following year. “I think it’s really fun to have a day where the eighth graders get to come to the high school and see what they’re going to be part of! As a Link Crew member it was nice to be a part of this experience with them,” Link Crew Leader Katie Hoang, 11, said.
Extracurricular activities and electives offered in the high school are emphasized as well, such as Thespians and Yearbook. Some activities that the kids participated in included acting in skits with Thespians and theater, and being taught how to use Canva and make a poster with Yearbook.
Overall, Move Up Day is a great opportunity for the eighth graders to witness firsthand the community they will soon be part of, giving them an opportunity to explore different electives and academic courses they can take as well.
