The votes are in, the posters are down, and San Marino High School’s student body has spoken. After a week of passionate campaigning and student engagement, the 2025 ASB election has officially wrapped up – bringing with it a fresh team of student leaders who are all ready to make their mark on campus.
This year’s ASB election saw a strong burnout, with students from all grade levels casting their votes during the school-wide election held on April 25th. From hilarious posters, to creative social media campaigns, candidates brought their best in hopes of earning their peers’ votes. “I was honestly surprised by how many students were involved,” said Camilla Chen (9), a freshman who ran for sophomore class president. “Whether I won or lost, I felt like we really came together as a school.”
Congratulations to the newly elected ASB officers for the 2025-2026 school year: Julien Collet as President, Grace Davis and Preston Tong both as Vice President, Jaylee Wee as Secretary, Claire Huang as treasurer, Marcus Wang as Activities Commissioner, and Matthew Woo as Athletic Commissioner. As for the class cabinet, we have Jennifer Ko as the Senior Class President, Leynah Barcarse and Marcus Chen both as the Junior Class President, and finally, Camilla Chen as the Sophomore Class President. Each of these students campaigned with a strong vision for improving school life, from promising to organize more fun events that bring everyone together, to enhancing campus spirit. Their energy, passion, and speeches stood out during election week, and now they’re preparing to take on the responsibility of representing the student body with dedication and creativity.
For many candidates, election week was a mix of excitement and nervousness. “I was so scared when they finally announced the results,” said Camilla Chen (9), who was elected Sophomore Class President. “But now, I just can’t wait to get started and make next year even better.” Students across campus expressed their excitement about the outcome, with many saying they were satisfied with the results and hopeful for what’s ahead.
This year’s election revealed more than just a new ASB lineup, it highlighted what students care about. Topics like school spirit, promise of creativity, and inclusive representation came up again and again in speeches and campaign flyers.
The newly elected officers will officially take office at the beginning of next school year, and their first big test will be organizing the first week of school in the fall. Plans are already in the works for more student-led initiatives and activities that reflect a wider range of student interest. With this new team stepping in, there’s a lot to look forward to. Whether you voted or ran, spoke up or supported from the sidelines, this election reminded everyone of one thing: student voices matter.
