Mr. Nagaoka has joined our school’s science department, bringing with him a strong background in biology and a passion for teaching problem-solving skills. “I want students to leave this class not only with a deeper understanding of science, but also with the ability to think critically and tackle challenges,” Mr. Nagaoka said. These are skills he believes are essential, no matter what path students pursue.
Originally from Arcadia High School, Mr. Nagaoka studied evolution and ecology at Ohio State University. After earning his undergraduate degree, he worked with the National Park Service in Rhode Island, where he led environmental education programs. He later worked as a substitute while completing his teaching credential and master’s program, ultimately deciding to dedicate himself fully to the classroom.
Outside of teaching, Mr. Nagaoka is a sports fan who especially enjoys baseball and football. He also has a wide range of favorite shows and movies, from Breaking Bad to The Boys to SpongeBob SquarePants. As for films, he’s a big Star Wars fan.
With his mix of scientific expertise, teaching experience, and down-to-earth interests, Mr. Nagaoka is excited to bring his enthusiasm to our school community.
