Bright yellow lights glare down on a sea of white which erupts in a series of cheers: the Titans have scored another touchdown. This Friday night was perfect to boost school spirit through a home football game. Students of all grades flocked to the bleachers on August 22nd to cheer on the Varsity football team against their opponent, Heritage Christian High school. The theme was white out, and students were encouraged to wear all white to boost morale for the student section and their team alike. Students brought their own touch of personalization to the game as well, with a large speaker being passed around the student section blasting music and setting the early night vibe. And to not forget an integral part of the game, cheerleaders stood on the track passionately rallying the excitement of all in attendance. “It was really fun to cheer for our team, and even though it was really tiring, it was a great bonding experience for our varsity cheer team,” Chloe Khalili, 11, said.
As the game drew on, more students began to arrive decked out in white– a great turnout for the first home game of the year. “I enjoyed going to the game, even though I didn’t really watch, since I got to hang out with friends and go get dinner afterwards. I think that overall, the vibe of the game was pretty good,” Ryan Lee, 12, said.
The Titan football team fought valiantly against Heritage Christian with some excellently run plays but ultimately fell to the opposing team with an end score of 20 – 34. “Even though we lost, the atmosphere of the game brought something to look forward to for the rest of the season” Lee said.
Hopefully, better things are in store for the rest of the Titanian football season.
