On September 16, 2025, a school shooting at Evergreen High school shocked everyone. The shooting resulted in two victims, one not yet identified, and the second being Matthew Silverstone, 18. The suspect, sixteen-year-old Desmond Holly, waited until lunch time to begin shooting. Holly was suspected of becoming “radicalized by an extremist network,” the local police department said.
Stated in an ADL report, several other school shooters were active on the same network. The content on this site was described as being white supremacist and graphically violent. These extremist websites have influenced many school shooters, which indicates an influential following off of these websites. Many other individuals who carried out school shootings visited the site. This included 15- year-old Natalie Rupnow, who was the suspect during the Abundant Life Christian school in Wisconsin. During December 2024, Holly was spotted posting photos of Rupnow on TikTok. “Many of these online spaces are glorifying these young, violent shooter types,” ADL VP of Extremism and Intelligence, Oren Segal, said.
His most recent profile photo on TikTok was of Elliot Rodger. Who killed six people in California in 2014. The sixteen year old posted a photo of himself holding a gun beside a box of ammunition on his X account just two hours before the shooting. “The infrastructure that we need to prevent violence has always been very weak, and it’s even weaker right now. That’s my biggest frustration, having so many solutions that aren’t being fully implemented. It just breaks my heart,” Kingston from ADL said.
Holly repeatedly reloaded his handgun exactly 20 rounds and fired in about 20 minutes. At around 12:24 pm, calls from the school started flooding into the 911 dispatch center. The shooter started inside of the school. Luckily, he was unable to reach more students behind locked classrooms. We know that the first victim was injured inside the school and Matthew Silverstone was shot outside. Deputies confronted the shooter, who ultimately took his own life. The two students who were shot were immediately hospitalized with their conditions not changing.
