The rush of adrenaline, feeling of anticipation, and happiness when winning are just some of the things that the boys tennis team will miss as their season comes to a close. Tennis, characterized by its classic forehands and backhands, is an extremely isolated and lonely sport that builds great self-confidence and morale. But at times, it can also be stressful mentally and taxing. But the boys tennis team this year has shown that even through the lows, they can remain strong and united, supporting each other and leading the way for future teams.
One of the main obstacles this year is the roster which has been weaker than past years. After the graduation of many good players last year, this season has been a growing year where coaches are taking their time to grow and develop players. But because it takes time for players to progress, it has been the first time in twenty years that they have lost the league. However, though it has been rough, the boys are increasingly getting motivated to work hard and take back their title next year. The losses were incredibly hard to take, but they have fueled a fire under the team and has brought them closer together. “The season has been okay this year. We had some tough losses but we had historically a weaker roster then in the past. Nevertheless, everyone fought well and worked hard,” Kayvon Kasravi, 10, said.
Additionally, individual victories have perpetuated confidence and promise for the next season as the number one singles player, Kayvon Kasravi, has won the Singles League Individual Title. His astonishing feat rings true as he inspires his teammates to reach new levels and continuously improve.
The boys tennis team is a growing and ever-evolving power that hungers for the regaining of their title. Though their season has been one of hardship and adversity, it has ignited a fire under their rackets as they delve into the next season.
