On Wednesday, 09/24, and Friday, 09/26, the InterClub Council organized Club Rush, an event where clubs sold food to raise funds for their operation. With more than forty clubs participating in total, the event presented a wide variety of food and beverages for students to freely choose from. Club Rush serves as an opportunity for club leaders to demonstrate their passion, get students more acquainted with them, and potentially recruit new members into their clubs.
Surrounding the whole quad, about twenty tables were laid out for clubs to use each day. Club leaders were dismissed from their classes in advance, so that they were able to prepare the food for the incoming customers. Within minutes, the tables became full of hearty foods and refreshing drinks. Among all the foods, not only popular ones such as In-N-Out and Raising Canes could be seen, but there were also unique cultural foods like teriyaki bowls and tacos. “We bought 110 In-N-Out Burgers, including 5 additional ones for our Kahoot winners. Seeing our previous sales, we were pretty confident that we could sell out. That came true! We sold out and earned around $300 dollars,” Key Club President Kimberly Zhang, 11, said.
Right after the bell dismissed all students from their third period, the quad was quickly filled with hungry students coming from all directions, attracted by the array of delicacies. Students formed long lines waiting for their turns to purchase, and the ones who just got their food spent no time hesitating but went directly to their next target—the whole quad was in a buzz of excitement. Enjoying their foods and hanging out with their friends, students got to relax between academic stress and truly feel the school spirit inherent in Club Rush. “I was honestly surprised to see a couple of new clubs I’ve never heard of, and I’m glad that I got this chance to learn about them. Also, buying food to support clubs sounds like a win-win to me,” Joseph Li, 11, said.
